Jaana Maijala - Visual Artist
Born in Ylistaro 1984, lives and works
Finland and Estonia.
Maijala has studied fine arts and holds a MFA degree in photography from the School of Art and Design at Aalto University, Helsinki, FI.
In her artistic work Maijala deals with the combination of photography and drawing. She begins her work often with drawings because she enjoys how drawing immediately follows life as it is lived. For Maijala pencil is a tool of trial, thought and recording. Afterwards she often photographs her drawings. For her camera’s role is to refine ideas and experiences: make them solid and bring them to light.
